Baseball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Menlo School

Menlo School hadn't done well against Sacred Heart Prep recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Menlo School's pitcher stepped up to hand Sacred Heart Prep a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since March 3rd.

Not much got past Jackson Flanagan, who gave up just seven hits to keep Sacred Heart Prep off the board. Flanagan also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Menlo School is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Liam Widner was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Menlo School and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Menlo School will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sacred Heart Prep: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
