Iona Prep dropped their record down to 19-4-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins. They lost 8-0 to the Poly Prep Country Day Blue Devils. The shutout was out of character for the Gaels seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Poly Prep Country Day, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games.

For Poly Prep Country Day's part, they got a great performance from Miguel Sime Jr. as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Sime Jr. has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mateo Noto, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Iona Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Poly Prep Country Day, they will challenge Long Island Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
