The Anclote Sharks will face off against the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Anclote has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Anclote fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hudson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 15-10 to the Cobras. The defeat continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now lost six in a row.
Anthony Ramos put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Ramos was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Sam Fanning led a balanced group of hitters, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nathan Langley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic fell victim to Land O' Lakes and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Gators by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Hurricanes' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Cooper Antalek was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elyvis Quezada, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases marked the first that Quezada stole this season.
Anclote's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Anclote's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. Anclote has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Anclote continue to outrun the ball?
Anclote came up short against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 7-2. Can Anclote avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
