Softball Recap: Rising Sun Takes a Loss

Rising Sun dropped down to 4-10 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the C. Milton Wright Mustangs, falling 13-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 10, 2025.

Bailey Vaughan made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Gemma Brand was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for C. Milton Wright, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On C. Milton Wright's side, Izzie Youngworth made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Youngworth was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Julianna McJilton was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

While Rising Sun had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Thursday.
