Football Recap: Kyle Scott's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marian Catholic over Depaul College Prep

Marian Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 43-19 to the DePaul College Prep Rams. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 20-7 to the Rams when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marian Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kyle Scott, who rushed for 39 yards and two scores, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Antonio Burton was another key player, rushing for 52 yards and one TD.

Tyson Hooks had an outrageously good game for DePaul College Prep as he rushed for 212 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries, and also caught one score. Hooks' longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Jackson Grabinski, who threw for 109 yards and a pair of TDs.

Marian Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for DePaul College Prep, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Marian Catholic and DePaul College Prep will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Spartans will square off against rival Leo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, DePaul College Prep is set to challenge their familiar foe St. Patrick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
