Softball Recap: Manatee Gets the Win

Manatee's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Riverview Sarasota Rams by a score of 13-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hurricanes' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Addison Johnston made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Addison Davis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Mercedes VanTassel was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Manatee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Manatee's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Riverview Sarasota, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Coming up, Manatee will host Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverview Sarasota, they will square off against Braden River at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
