Football Recap: Titusville Takes a Loss

Titusville and Merritt Island squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Titusville had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Mustangs, falling 41-13. The contest marked the Terriers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kevin Verpaele produced another solid effort throwing for 320 yards and three TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 40 yards for Merritt Island. The dominant performance also gave Verpaele a new career-high in passer rating (162.4). Another player making a difference was Alain Adams, who rushed for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Titusville now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Merritt Island, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Titusville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Merritt Island, they will take on Eau Gallie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 894 yards in their previous games.
