Baseball Recap: Bear Creek Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lincoln on Monday, Bear Creek came back down to earth. The Bears fell just short of the Chatfield Chargers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Bear Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Hegerle, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Bear Creek now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Chatfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Bear Creek will host Valor Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Chatfield, they will head out to challenge Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.88 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
