Basketball Recap: Victoria West Find Success

Victoria West was handed a 25-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 53-50 victory over the Seguin Matadors. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Matadors back in November of 2024, they had to take a 59-46 loss.

Seguin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Corey Dailey, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Saengerhausen, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Victoria West has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Seguin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Victoria West has already played their next match, a 52-50 defeat against Edna on the 30th. Seguin has also already played their next game, a 58-42 win against Edison on the 31st.
