Baseball Recap: Guy-Perkins Wins Going Away Against Shirley

Guy-Perkins had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Shirley on Friday. The Thunderbirds put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 18-8 win. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Owen Glover was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Glover was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cardan Foster was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Garrett Fisher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Guy-Perkins' win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Shirley, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
