Softball Recap: North Union Gets the Win

North Union's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Jonathan Alder Pioneers. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 10-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leah Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emma McElroy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kale Keigley, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

North Union's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Jonathan Alder, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Looking ahead, North Union will take on Northwestern at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Jonathan Alder, they will square off against Kenton Ridge at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
