Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Jacksonville needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Amaree Burries. The Jacksonville Crimsons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 victory over the Jersey Panthers on Monday thanks in part to Burries, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 24 points and six boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Wyatt Moore was another key player, putting up 12 points. Those 12 points gave him a new career-high.

Jersey's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Brunaugh, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was John Paul Vogel, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and eight boards.

Jacksonville's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Jersey, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Jacksonville will be taking part in a tournament against Cahokia at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jersey, they will take on Granite City in a tournament on Wednesday.
