Softball Recap: McComb Comes Up Short

If McComb was riding high fresh off their 15-4 takedown of Leipsic on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Toledo Christian Eagles by a score of 15-14 on Friday.

Lily Sebring put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brooke Koenig made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Joruney Scheff was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

McComb's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Toledo Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season.

McComb wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-9 defeat against Elmwood on the 11th. As for Toledo Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-3 win against North Central on the 9th.
