Recap: Gilmer Bobcats vs. Cartersville Hurricanes
The Gilmer Bobcats entered their tilt with the Cartersville Hurricanes with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Gilmer walked away with a 69-61 victory over Cartersville on Saturday. Given Gilmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Cartersville is ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cartersville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nas Bennett, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Daeyln Hall, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Gilmer is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Cartersville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Gilmer will take on Jackson County at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cartersville, Cartersville and Calhoun will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
