Basketball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 73-34 loss at the hands of the Northeastern Eagles. The Aces have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Holmes lost, don't look at Chloe Chappell. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points and four steals. The contest was Chappell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamonni Mathews, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeastern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cierra Jones, who put up 14 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in points. Jada Simpson was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six steals and five assists.

Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Northeastern, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4.

Holmes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-43 victory against Bear Grass Charter on the 29th. Northeastern has also already played their next match, a 48-16 win against Camden County on the 29th.
