Recap: Port Jervis Raiders vs. East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves
It was a good run, but the Port Jervis Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were beaten by East Stroudsburg North 77-50. While losing is never fun, Port Jervis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 461st in New York, while East Stroudsburg North is ranked 149th in Pennsylvania).
Despite the defeat, Port Jervis had strong showings from Isaiah Boucher, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds, and Carroll Dolshun, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. Boucher scored a full 26% of Port Jervis' points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
East Stroudsburg North had a senior duo take command as Nate Wilder scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals and Bryceson Dobie scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The game was Wilder's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ozias Washington, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
Port Jervis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for East Stroudsburg North, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Jervis will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Minisink Valley at 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Minisink Valley is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. East Stroudsburg North will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Delaware Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
