Soccer Game Preview: Caney Creek vs. Grand Oaks

The Caney Creek Panthers will head out to face off against the Grand Oaks Grizzlies at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Caney Creek's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Caney Creek's offense. They came up short against Oak Ridge on Friday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while the War Eagles are ranked 70th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Grand Oaks made sure to put some goals up on the board against Willis on Friday. They walked away with a 4-2 win over the Wildkats. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Wildkats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Grand Oaks hit Willis with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Johanna Diaz (2), Rylee Thompson, and Sophia Georgas.

Grand Oaks' win bumped their record up to 6-4-2. As for Caney Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Caney Creek came up short against Grand Oaks when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Caney Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
