Baseball Recap: Pine Forest Comes Up Short

Pine Forest had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it seven. They came up short against the Pensacola Tigers, falling 16-1. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Pensacola, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.0 runs this season.

For Pensacola's part, Andrew Maloney was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Maloney was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Pine Forest will be playing at home against Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pensacola, they are taking a road trip to challenge L.E.A.D. Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
