Football Recap: John Fernandez's Menacing Defense Leads Jefferson over Highlands

Jefferson not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 8, 2024 (when they won 35-7). They were the clear victors by a 34-14 margin over the Highlands Owls. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jefferson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as John Fernandez, Julian Cervera, and Michael Bejar picked up one apiece. Cervera got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Highlands took the loss, they still got scores from Jermiah McKane and Jovan Flemings.

Jefferson picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Highlands, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coincidentally, Jefferson and Highlands will both be playing Sam Houston the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Owls will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
