Basketball Recap: Englewood Stem Panthers vs. Bogan Bengals
Englewood Stem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 57-17 loss at the hands of the Bogan Bengals. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
Leading Bogan to victory were Ra'Niyah Beal and Aliyah Sandoka. Beal posted ten points and five steals, while Sandoka had seven points and 12 rebounds. Beal has become a key player for Bogan: the team is 4-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmony Burgs, who put up six points.
Englewood Stem's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Bogan, they moved to 5-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
After both having extra time off, Englewood Stem and Chicago Washington will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Bogan, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Christian Fenger Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Christian Fenger Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
