Football Recap: Denver Christian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Denver Christian extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were beaten by the Burlington Cougars 52-23. The Thunder were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.

Denver Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pete Smith, who rushed for 70 yards and one TD. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.

As for Burlington, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 43.5 points this season.

Scout Humrich had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 138 yards and five scores on only eight carries. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 10 rushing touchdowns on the season. Jason Saucedo was another key player, rushing for 170 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.

Denver Christian and Burlington will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Thunder will challenge rival Platte Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Burlington is set to take on their familiar foe Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
