Baseball Recap: Bourgeois Triumphs

Bourgeois came into Monday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Ascension Christian 9-7.

Bourgeois let Kolby Estay and Logan Renfro run wild. Estay scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2, while Renfro scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Renfro a new career-high in RBI (two). Dawson Prejean was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Bourgeois kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

Bourgeois' win bumped their record up to 2-19. As for Ascension Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-6 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bourgeois will welcome St. James at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ascension Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Assumption at 2:30 p.m.
