Softball Preview: Herscher Tigers vs. Clifton Central Comets        
        
		
            
 Herscher has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will  square off against the Clifton Central Comets at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. Herscher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8  runs per game  this season.
 Last Monday, Herscher earned  a  6-2 win over Peotone.
  Anistin Hackley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two  runs (both of which were unearned)  on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
 At the plate,  Mary Kanak was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
 Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, Clifton Central gave their fans yet another huge  victory on Thursday. They were the clear victor by  an  11-4 margin over Grant Park. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for Clifton Central.
  Anna Winkel was  excellent,  going 1-for-2 with three  runs and a  triple. Another player making a difference was  Keira Donnelly, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Herscher's win bumped their record up to 15-16. As for Clifton Central,  the  victory  got them back to even at 14-14.
 Herscher was able to grind out a solid  win over Clifton Central in their previous matchup  back in May of 2023, winning  9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Herscher since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
