Basketball Recap: Dominion Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Zena Irby and Sophia Jackson

Dominion Christian and The King's Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Dominion Christian had to settle for second. They came up short against The King's Academy, falling 64-41. Dominion Christian was down 50-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Sophia Jackson and Zena Irby certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jackson posted 18 points, while Irby almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards. That's the most points Jackson has posted since back in December of 2023.

The King's Academy found their leader in sophomore Addyson Nix, who shot 7-for-11 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for Nix. Reagan Findley was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Dominion Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for The King's Academy, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Dominion Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-52 loss against Westminster Schools of Augusta on the 18th. As for The King's Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 57-54 defeat against Tattnall Square Academy on the 18th.
