Football Recap: Northside Takes a Loss

Northside extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They had to suffer through a 61-14 loss at the hands of the Greenwood Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 58-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Northside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Warren Bijou, who rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown.

As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Northside is ranked 52nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kane Archer was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 68 yards and five TDs on only seven carries, and also threw for 285 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Greenwood also got help from Braxton Canada, who showed off his sure hands for 109 receiving yards.

Northside didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-20 loss against Coweta on the 12th. As for Greenwood, they have also already played their next match, a 43-42 win against Har-Ber on the 12th.
