Softball Recap: Horizon Comes Up Short

Horizon managed to slip by Apopka the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks lost 8-1 to the Blue Darters on Tuesday. The contest marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mackenzie Duncan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Horizon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Ferradaz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Horizon and nudges their season record down to 20-5. As for Apopka, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Horizon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Apopka, they will be playing at home against Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
