1A-2 Region IV District 16 recap September 10, 2013
Bruni was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 1A-2 Region IV District 16. Earlier in the week, the Badgers defeated Monte Alto 34-0.
Benavides scaled the state rankings by moving to 1,145 from 1,171 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of beating Marine Military 36-0.
Eddie Esquivel was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 96 yards on 3 carries as Bruni topped Monte Alto. Teammate Joel Lopez added to the ground attack by rushing for 67 yards.
Agua Dulce's homer hinojosa and trey mann have formed a dream team this season, leading 1A-2 Region IV District 16 in both passing and receiving yards. Hinojosa has thrown for 133 yards this season, while mann has 5 catches for 74 yards. Joseph Cruz from Arturo Lozano IV's team leads the league in rushing with 194 yards.
Benavides took down the Bulldogs 36-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
