Softball Recap: Northern Guilford Drops Season-High Score on Western Guilford

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northern Guilford). They never let the Western Guilford Hornets get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Friday. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Dakotah Wilkins made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Northern Guilford got a big performance out of Paige Bassett, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Bassett a new career-high in RBI (three). Morgan Headen was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Northern Guilford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Guilford only posted a batting average of .000.

Northern Guilford's record is now 9-3. As for Western Guilford, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Northern Guilford didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 25-1 victory against Grimsley on the 25th. As for Western Guilford, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-1 loss against Ragsdale on the 25th.
