Basketball Recap: Sylacauga Comes Up Short

Sylacauga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 35-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central of Clay County Volunteers. While losing is never fun, the Aggies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Volunteers are ranked 101st).

Central of Clay County can attribute much of their success to Ramyah Billingsley, who posted ten points along with five boards and three steals. Billingsley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zy?Keria Heflin, who put up five points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Sylacauga's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Central of Clay County, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Sylacauga has already played their next game, a 55-47 defeat against Lincoln on the 20th. Central of Clay County has also already played their next matchup (against Shelby County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
