Basketball Game Preview: Barron Collier Cougars vs. Estero Wildcats

Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Estero will be up against a hot Barron Collier team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Barron Collier took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 78-39 win over Everglades City. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Gators are ranked 598th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Clayton, who posted 17 points along with eight assists and six boards. Another player making a difference was Michael Crawford, who put up 11 points.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Estero had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the Bullsharks by a score of 82-71. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Barron Collier is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Estero, their victory bumped their record up to 10-16.

Barron Collier took their win against Estero when the teams last played back in November of 2021 by a conclusive 83-57. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Estero's Jason Duclona, who went 6 for 15 en route to 24 points and five rebounds.
