Basketball Recap: Canyon Snags Tenth Victory in Last 12 Games

On Saturday, the Canyon Comanches didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Cesar Chavez Champions, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win.

Brandon Benjamin was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 37 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Staf Yilmazturk, who posted nine points along with seven boards and five steals.

When it comes to explaining why Cesar Chavez lost, don't look at Lex Clontz. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. Gabriel Briones was another key player, going 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Cesar Chavez, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Canyon will head out to challenge Cypress at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cypress' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests. As for Cesar Chavez, they will take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
