Softball Game Preview: Navasota Rattlers vs. Smithville Tigers

For the second straight game, Navasota will face off against Smithville. The Rattlers will take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Navasota has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with eight straight defeats, while Smithville will come in with six straight victories.

Friday just wasn't the day for Navasota's offense. They lost 11-0 to Smithville on Friday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Rattlers were not able to get on the board.

For Smithville's part, the result came thanks to Jessica Hinnant's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks. Hinnant has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Smithville got a big performance out of Emery Bayer, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Bayer posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenna Tiner, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Smithville pushed their record up to 19-5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Navasota, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
