Watervliet scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 55-43 to the Saugatuck Trailblazers. Despite 179 more yards than the Trailblazers, the Panthers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, Watervliet still got an impressive performance from Caleb Jewell, who rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 320 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. 96 of those passing yards were hauled in by Ashton Coleman, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Those four rushing touchdowns gave Leslie a new career-high. Max Page was another major influence, as he rushed for 134 yards and ran in a TD.
Watervliet's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.7 points over those games. As for Saugatuck, their record is now 3-6.
