Basketball Recap: McDonogh Comes Up Short

McDonogh was the 53-51 winner over St. Mary when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints on Wednesday.

St. Mary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailey Harris led the charge by putting up 17 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. Harris is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandra Vandiver, who posted 12 points and seven boards.

McDonogh's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for St. Mary's, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. McDonogh will take on rival St. Timothy's at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Mary's is set to square off against their familiar foe Roland Park Country at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
