Recap: Staten Island Academy Tigers vs. Luther Cougars

The Staten Island Academy Tigers can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 75-68 victory over Luther. The victory was just what Staten Island Academy needed coming off of a 91-49 loss in their prior contest.

Tristan Elcock and Gavin Vestal certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Elcock scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Vestal scored ten points along with nine assists. That's the first time this season that Vestal posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Trail, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.

The victory got Staten Island Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Luther, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Staten Island Academy will square off against St. Ann's at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Luther won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kew Forest at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. Kew Forest is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
