Basketball Preview: Brunswick Railroaders vs. Middletown Knights

Brunswick is 0-10 against the Knights since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Brunswick Railroaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Middletown Knights at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Brunswick: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while the Knights have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Last Friday, Brunswick was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 37-32 to the Blazers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brunswick in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now lost three in a row.

The losing side was boosted by Andie Welsh, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 23 rebounds. Welsh is crushing the block category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Stefanic, who scored 12 points along with five steals.

Meanwhile, even though Smithsburg scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, Middletown still came out on top. Middletown walked away with a 68-59 victory over the Leopards.

Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Middletown, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Brunswick, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-38 loss to the Knights in their previous matchup back in January.
