Recap: Marion County Red Raiders vs. Winfield Pirates
The Marion County Red Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Winfield 56-50. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Marion County of the 67-57 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Saturday.
Several Red Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tye Madison, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Aldridge, who scored 17 points along with five assists and two steals.
Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Winfield, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-10.
Marion County will be playing at home against Brilliant at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Marion County's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Brilliant has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Winfield, they will take on Oakman at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (Oakman is ranked 132nd, while Winfield is ranked 153rd).
