Detroit Country Day is 6-1 against Cranbrook Kingswood since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to square off against the Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes at 6:00 p.m. Detroit Country Day will be strutting in after a win while Cranbrook Kingswood will be coming in after a defeat.

Detroit Country Day is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since February 10, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 win over Start. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 12th in Michigan, while the Spartans are ranked 107th in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cranbrook Kingswood played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 69-31 loss at the hands of Everest Collegiate. The Cranes haven't had much luck with Everest Collegiate recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Detroit Country Day will have to keep a close watch on Justine Casey and Sophia Tang, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cranbrook Kingswood's prior game. Casey posted 15 points, while Tang put up eight points.

Even though they lost, Cranbrook Kingswood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Detroit Country Day pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Cranbrook Kingswood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Everything came up roses for Detroit Country Day against Cranbrook Kingswood in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 80-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Detroit Country Day since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
