Softball Recap: Hico Comes Up Short

Hico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Moody Bearcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

The result came thanks to Mikaelynn Miles's shutout, as she gave up just eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Hico's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Moody, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3-1.

Hico didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-0 loss against Axtell on the 1st. As for Moody, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Clifton on the 1st.
