Baseball Game Preview: Bullitt East Chargers vs. Collins Titans

The Bullitt East Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Collins Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bullitt East has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight losses, while Collins will come in with five straight wins.

Bullitt East is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: St. Xavier, who was ranked second at the time (Bullitt East was ranked 15th). The Chargers fell 5-2 to the Tigers on Tuesday.

Bullitt East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Phelps, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Collins won against Shelby County on Tuesday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Titans beat the Rockets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1.

Collins pushed their record up to 15-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Bullitt East, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7-1.

Everything went Bullitt East's way against Collins in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Bullitt East made off with a 16-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
