Baseball Recap: Trenton Comes Up Short

Trenton lost against Garden City on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Trojans fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-4. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly two runs.

Trenton got a good showing from Brendan Wright, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Wright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Trenton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Crook, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Trenton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-7 record this season. As for Garden City, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-6.

Trenton and Garden City should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Trojans (ranked 28th) will meet Taylor (ranked 200th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Garden City will take on Annapolis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (135 vs. 393).
