Basketball Recap: Milby Comes Up Short

Milby was the 67-57 winner over Westbury when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Milby Buffs took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westbury Huskies on Saturday. The Buffs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Milby still got an impressive performance from Delani Pestaina, who posted 23 points and five rebounds. Pestaina is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Kobe Brown was another key player, putting up 13 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Milby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. This was only their 12th loss (out of 17 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Westbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but King Anderson led the charge by going 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Nicholas Homer, who went 6 for 11 en route to 14 points and seven boards.

Milby's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Westbury, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12.

Milby wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 101-65 defeat against Madison on the 25th. Westbury has also already played their next contest, a 68-48 loss against Spring Woods on the 23rd.
