Baseball Game Preview: Tolman Tigers vs. Scituate Spartans

The Tolman Tigers will head out to take on the Scituate Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tolman will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Tolman's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Davies Career & Tech by a score of 5-0.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Scituate and Tiverton, and Scituate kept the tradition alive. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Tigers on Wednesday.

Jackson Scanlon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Scituate saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paul Zolkos, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Travis Howman, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Scituate hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tiverton struck out seven times.

Scituate has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Tolman, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Tolman suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Scituate in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
