Preview: Millers Creek Christian Lions vs. Community Baptist Conqueror
Millers Creek Christian and Community Baptist are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Millers Creek Christian Lions will head out on the road to take on the Community Baptist Conqueror at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Millers Creek Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Millers Creek Christian ended up a good deal behind West Wilkes and lost 61-47. Millers Creek Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Cam Layaou, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Layaou is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Noah Heath was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Community Baptist can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 58-33 margin over Noble Academy. The victory was just what Community Baptist needed coming off of a 52-28 defeat in their prior matchup.
Millers Creek Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Community Baptist, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.
Millers Creek Christian took their win against Community Baptist when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 55-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Millers Creek Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
