Softball Recap: Skyline Takes a Loss

If Skyline was riding high fresh off their 14-7 takedown of Bonneville on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grizzlies came up short against the Bees on Thursday, falling 9-2. The Grizzlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bees earlier this season, when they won 14-7.

Maggie Young put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Young wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kamree Christensen, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Skyline's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for Bonneville, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-5.

Looking ahead, Skyline will challenge Filer at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Bonneville, they will venture away from home to square off against Hillcrest at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
