Recap: Muncie Central Bearcats vs. Delta Eagles
The Muncie Central Bearcats lost a heartbreaker to the Delta Eagles when they met back in December of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Saturday. Muncie Central took a 33-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Delta. Muncie Central has struggled against Delta recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Muncie Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DeMarkis Cole, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Cole's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xaviya Cook, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Muncie Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Muncie Central now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Delta, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Muncie Central will head out on the road to face off against Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lapel will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Delta and Blackford will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Blackford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Delta is ranked 20th).
