Basketball Recap: Jackson-Olin Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Jackson-Olin entered their contest against Wenonah on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Jackson-Olin Mustangs took a hard 52-37 fall against the Wenonah Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Dragons are ranked 31st).

Samarian Franklin was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine assists for Wenonah. The game was Franklin's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aariyanah Parker, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Jackson-Olin's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-5. As for Wenonah, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson-Olin will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Parker at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Wenonah will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against John Carroll Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
