Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lee

Lee had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the John Battle Trojans as they made off with a 7-0 win. This was payback for the Generals, who suffered a 6-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Avery Weston, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep John Battle off the board. Weston has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addie Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Hailee Ewing was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Lee's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for John Battle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee will challenge Union at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Battle, they will square off against Honaker at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
