Roosevelt snaps three-game streak of wins on the road

Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Jackson-Reed Tigers

On Wednesday, the Roosevelt Roughriders faced the Jackson-Reed Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt was dealt a 75-31 defeat at the hands of Jackson-Reed. Roosevelt's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Roosevelt's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kareem Davis, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Jawuan Carter was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Roosevelt struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Scottie Hubbard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jackson-Reed, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Sekasi, who scored ten points.

Roosevelt's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5. As for Jackson-Reed, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Roosevelt's road trip will continue as they head out to face New Town at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. New Town will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 141st in Maryland, while Roosevelt is ranked ninth in District of Columbia). As for Jackson-Reed, they will face off against Wasatch Academy at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wasatch Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
