TAPPS Division III District 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012

Jordan Williams of Lake Country Christian ran for the longest rushing play in TAPPS Division III District 1 this season against First Baptist last week. Williams scampered for 68 yards on the play and finished with 181 on the day as his team bested the Saints.

Lake Country Christian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to first in the league. Wade Whites's team vanquished First Baptist 27-24 earlier in the week.

Temple Christian's dynamic duo of Connor Moore and James Harrell proved tough for McKinney Christian Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moore threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns and Harrell had 45 yards receiving. Spencer Starling helped Temple Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 30 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Tad Howard and Williams the Eagles have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Howard leads the league in passing with 491 yards, while Williams has rushed for 454 yards this season. Lubbock Christian's BROOKS STEPHENSON leads the league in receiving yards with 221 on 15 catches.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Lake Country Christian takes on second place Calvary Christian. Last week, Lake Country Christian defeated the Saints, while Calvary Christian topped Rockwall Christian.

The Eagles moved up to 711 from 1,016 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in TAPPS Division III District 1. Lake Country Christian climbed the ranks as a result of a 27-24 win over First Baptist.
